Jarid Cottrell
Practice Leader, Systems and Technology
Cottrell merges his technical expertise in engineering, product development, process improvement and program management with his in-depth corporate governance skills to lead Innové's Systems and Technology practice area. This practice focuses on airborne, communication and information, network-centric and space systems within various defense and aerospace markets.
Cottrell joined Innové in 2005 as a senior systems engineer, supporting key clients with systems design, development and certification for various cryptographic modernization programs. He was promoted to director of the security and systems engineering divisions in 2006 and named leader of the Innové Integrated Systems practice area one year later. During his career, he has developed expertise in mission and information assurance, network-centric system modernization, sub-system integration and certification/accreditation.
Prior to joining Innové, Cottrell was a senior systems engineer at the US Air Force Cryptologic Systems Group. He served as lead engineer for a number of projects throughout the organization supporting advanced technology initiatives, including the acquisition of NSA Type 1 cryptographic products for the modernization of the Mode 4/5 Combat Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system and coordinating product procurement and management solution integration for over 40 US Air Force, US Army and US Navy aircraft and ground platforms.
Cottrell earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master's degree in engineering management from Southern Methodist University. He is a US Department of Defense Level 2 PM and SPRD&E Certified Acquisition Professional. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Project Management Institute, International Council on Systems Engineering and Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
